Siteworks stores project information in a structured folder system that helps organise design data, field measurements and project settings. The same folder structure is used in both the field and office, allowing data to be easily transferred between Siteworks, Trimble Business Center (TBC), WorksManager and other Trimble workflows.
Siteworks Data Storage Locations
Siteworks project data is stored in different locations depending on the controller operating system:
Windows Controllers
Android Controllers
Note: The Trimble SCS900 Data folder name is retained on Windows devices to maintain compatibility with legacy SCS900 workflows and supporting Trimble software applications.
Organising Project Data
Siteworks organises data by Project. Within each project, information is further divided into:
- Designs
- Work Orders
This structure mirrors the folder structure created by Trimble Business Center, making it easier to manage, synchronise, archive and transfer project data between the office and the field.
Keeping data organised in Work Orders also simplifies importing and managing measured data within Trimble Business Center.
Work Orders can be:
- Created directly in Siteworks.
- Created and assigned from Trimble Business Center.
When a Work Order is created in Trimble Business Center, predefined settings can be assigned, including:
- Design files
- Surface offsets
- Measurement tolerances
- Field instructions
- Coverage grid settings
- Continuous measurement settings
Siteworks Data Structure
Information stored on a controller is organised into four levels.
Global
Global information is available to all projects and sites.
Examples include:
- Geoid files
- Software settings
- Recently connected projects and sites
Project
Project information relates to all activities within a specific site or project.
Project-level data includes:
- Control points
- Site calibration results
- Background maps
- Coordinate system information
Project information is always available, regardless of which Design or Work Order is currently open.
Design
Each project contains a Designs folder that stores individual design folders.
Design data is generally associated with a specific phase of construction and may include:
- Design surfaces
- Foreground linework maps
- Corridor designs
- Stakeout data
- Design models
Multiple designs can be stored within a single project to support different stages of construction or design revisions.
Work Order
Each project contains a Work Orders folder that stores individual Work Orders.
Work Orders are used to store:
- Measured points
- Measured lines
- Surface measurements
- Stakeout records
- Field observations
- Exported data
Each Work Order also contains an Output folder where exported files are saved.
Using separate Work Orders for different site activities helps keep field data organised and simplifies reporting and data processing in Trimble Business Center.

SITECH Tip: Create separate Work Orders for different field tasks rather than storing all measurements in a single Work Order. This makes it easier to review, export and process data throughout the life of the project.
