The Design tab allows you to control which design elements are displayed on the map. Use these settings to customise the map view and focus on the information most relevant to your task, whether you're reviewing a design, performing measurements, or carrying out stakeout activities.
Design
Displays the active design on the map.
Guide Arrow
Displays navigation arrows that help guide you to a selected point or stakeout location.
Corridor
Displays the centreline of any loaded corridor design.
Cross-Section Slopes
Displays slope values for each segment within a cross section.
Project Map
Displays the project map in the map view.
Stakeout Flags
Shows stakeout flags on the map to help identify stakeout locations.
Cross Section Lines
Displays the cross sections associated with a loaded corridor design.
Lightbar Sound
Enables an audible indicator when approaching the target design elevation.
Design Contours
Displays contour lines for the active design surface.
Contour Interval
Controls the spacing between displayed contour lines.
Increasing the interval displays fewer contour lines, while decreasing the interval provides greater contour detail.
Stakeout Guide
The Stakeout Guide setting controls the behaviour of the fine stakeout bull's-eye guide when you are within 2 metres of a stakeout point.
North/Instrument Orientation
The guide arrows are displayed based on a fixed reference direction:
- GNSS receivers: Guide arrows are oriented to face north.
- Total stations: Guide arrows are oriented to face the instrument.
This setting provides a consistent directional reference while navigating to a stakeout point.
Approach
The guide arrows are oriented based on your direction of travel.
The forward direction shown at the top of the controller screen is used to determine the arrow orientation, making navigation more intuitive as you move towards the point.
Receiver Bearing
The guide arrows are oriented based on the direction the GNSS receiver is facing.
Requirements:
- Tilt Compensation must be enabled.
- A Tilt Compensation-compatible GNSS receiver is required.
Note: If Tilt Compensation is disabled, the guide arrows automatically default to the North orientation mode.
Hide
Hides the fine stakeout guide from the map screen.
Cut/Fill Precision
Controls the number of decimal places displayed for:
- Cut/fill values shown in the information bars.
- Individual point cut/fill values when Point Cut/Fill is enabled in the Measure tab.
Increasing precision can provide more detailed elevation information when working to tighter tolerances.
Cross-Section Vertical Exaggeration
Adjusts the vertical scale used in Cross Section and Profile views.
- Supported values range from 0.05 to 50.
- The selected value applies to both Cross Section and Profile views.
Increasing the vertical exaggeration can make elevation changes easier to see, while lower values provide a more realistic scale representation.
Show Vertical Exaggeration Text
Displays an on-screen indicator showing the currently applied vertical exaggeration value.
This can be useful when reviewing profiles or cross sections and comparing views with different exaggeration settings.
SITECH Tip: When reviewing design surfaces, enable only the design layers required for your current task. Reducing unnecessary information on the screen can improve map readability and help you focus on critical design and stakeout information.
