Map Options: 3D View Tab

The 3D View tab allows you to customise how surfaces are displayed in the 3D Surface Viewer. These settings can help improve the visualisation of site terrain, grade changes, and surface data by adjusting vertical exaggeration and colour display options.

3D View Options

Show Vertical Exaggeration Text

Displays the current vertical exaggeration value on screen within the 3D Surface Viewer.

This visual indicator makes it easy to confirm the level of exaggeration being applied when reviewing surfaces and comparing elevation changes.

When enabled:

• The active vertical exaggeration value is displayed on-screen.
• Users can quickly verify the current viewing scale.
• Useful when sharing screenshots or reviewing surfaces with other team members.

Use Legacy Colour Palette

Displays surfaces using the legacy Siteworks colour scheme.

When enabled:

• Blue represents higher elevations.
• Red represents lower elevations.

This colour palette matches the surface display used in Siteworks versions prior to v1.43.

When disabled:

• Siteworks uses the current default colour palette.

This setting is useful for users who prefer the earlier display style or need consistency with historical projects and training material.

Vertical Exaggeration

Vertical exaggeration increases or decreases the visual appearance of elevation changes within the 3D Surface Viewer.

Higher exaggeration values can make subtle grade changes easier to identify, while lower values provide a more realistic representation of the surface.

Common uses include:

• Reviewing drainage flow paths.
• Identifying high and low areas.
• Visualising earthworks surfaces.
• Checking design slopes and grade transitions.

SITECH Tip: When reviewing relatively flat surfaces, increasing the vertical exaggeration can make small elevation differences much easier to identify. For steep terrain, reducing the exaggeration can provide a more realistic surface representation.
