The Rotate tab controls how the map is oriented on the Measurement screen. Different rotation settings can help improve navigation and situational awareness depending on whether you are measuring, staking out, or working along an alignment.
Rotate Options
🧭 Static
Orients the map to the project's north direction.
This is the default map orientation and keeps north at the top of the screen regardless of your movement or receiver direction.
🚶 Travel Direction
Orients the map based on your direction of travel.
As you walk or drive, the map rotates so that the direction you are moving remains at the top of the screen. This can make navigation more intuitive when moving through the project area.
Receiver Bearing
Orients the map based on the direction the GNSS receiver is facing.
This option requires:
- A Tilt Compensation-compatible GNSS receiver.
- Tilt Compensation to be enabled.
Note: If Tilt Compensation is not enabled, this option cannot be used.
📏 Follow Alignment
Available only when an alignment is selected.
This option rotates the map to follow the selected alignment and provides two orientation modes:
⬆️ Up Station
Orients the map so that increasing station values are displayed towards the top of the screen.
This is useful when progressing along an alignment in the direction of increasing stationing.
⬇️ Down Station
Orients the map so that decreasing station values are displayed towards the top of the screen.
This can be useful when working in the reverse direction along an alignment.
North Arrow Display
When any rotation setting other than Static is selected, Siteworks automatically displays a North Arrow on the map screen.
The North Arrow provides a quick visual reference to true project north while the map is rotated to match your travel direction, receiver orientation, or alignment direction.
SITECH Tip: For machine stakeout and site navigation, Travel Direction is often the preferred setting as the map rotates with your movement. When working on roads, pipelines, or other linear projects, Follow Alignment can provide a clearer view of the design relative to the selected alignment.
