A project boundary can be defined by importing a DXF file during project creation or by updating the boundary file from the Config Files tab when editing a project.
Requirements
To create a valid project boundary:
- The DXF file must contain one closed polygon.
- A valid coordinate system or calibration file
(. dcor.cal) must be uploaded before selecting the boundary DXF file.
Importing a Project Boundary
When creating or editing a project:
- Upload the project's coordinate system or calibration file.
- Upload the DXF file containing the project boundary.
- In the Boundary step, the polygon contained within the DXF file is displayed on the map for review.
- Complete the project creation or update process.
No additional configuration is required after the boundary file has been imported.
Viewing the Boundary
Once imported:
- The polygon from the DXF file becomes the project's official boundary.
- The boundary is displayed on the map during the Project Type stage of the project setup workflow.
- The project boundary is then used for project visualisation, data validation, and spatial filtering within WorksOS.
Note: A project boundary imported from a DXF file cannot be edited directly within WorksOS. To modify the boundary, update the DXF file in the source application (such as Trimble Business Center or another CAD package), or create a new DXF file and upload it through the Config Files step when creating or editing the project.
