Measure modes control how your GNSS receiver or total station collects data in the field. You can switch between modes at any time by tapping the Measure Mode icon on the left side of the main map screen.
GNSS Measure Modes
Use these modes when working with a GNSS receiver:
Standing
Capture a single point measurement.
Walk to the location and take one accurate reading.
Walking
Continuously collect points while moving around the site.
Points are stored based on:
- Horizontal distance and elevation change
- Time interval
- When the receiver is level (see Measure when level)
Vehicle
Use this mode when measuring from a vehicle.
Points are automatically recorded based on:
- Distance and elevation change
- Time interval
Additional feature:
- Measure antenna height by parking over a known elevation point.
Static
Improves accuracy by averaging measurements over time.
Ideal for high-precision point collection.
EZ Level
Displays elevation differences across a site relative to a chosen benchmark.
Useful for quick grade visualization and leveling tasks.
Machine
Designed for excavator workflows using Siteworks.
Requirements:
- Machine Guidance Module
- Additional hardware kit
Total Station Measure Modes
Use these modes when working with a total station:
Standing
Measure a single point by walking to it.
Walking
Collect continuous measurements while moving.
Points are stored based on:
- Distance and elevation change
- Time interval
Settings can be adjusted via the Measure Mode icon.
Vehicle
Measure while driving through the site.
Points are stored based on:
- Distance/elevation changes
- Time intervals
Additional feature:
- Antenna height measurement over a known point
Measurement rates:
- Standard prisms: 3 Hz
- MT1000: 10 Hz
- MT900: 20 Hz
Averaging
Measure a point multiple times (faces/rounds) and calculate accuracy using standard deviation.
DR (Reflectorless)
Measure points without a prism using reflectorless technology.
DR Target
Measure a point and apply a user-defined offset (up to 5 m) along the laser beam path.
DR Scanning
Manually scan an area by rotating the instrument and recording points at set intervals.
Replaced by SX Scan when using SX-series instruments.
DR Averaging
Reflectorless measurement with multiple rounds and standard deviation reporting.
EZ Level
Same functionality as GNSS EZ Level—visualize elevation differences from a benchmark.
SX Scan
Perform point cloud laser scanning when connected to:
SX10 or SX12
Requirement: Advanced Measurement Module
Measure Type Selection
Below the Measure Mode icon, you’ll find the Measure Type icon.
Use it to choose how data is captured:
- Point
- Existing Line
- New Line
Stakeout Mode
When in Stakeout Mode, the Measure Type icon changes to allow selection of the stakeout method.
For more information, refer to the Slope Staking section.
